About Tattie

Description of Beds: Tattie is a spacious two berth campervan, with the capacity to host a 3rd child/small adult. The fixed double bed is 135cm x 190cm and is topped with a proper mattress. Furthermore, with some shape-shifting magic, there’s additional sleeping space for one by converting the seat benches into a small single berth. We advertise this as a "child" berth on the listing, but in reality could be used by a smaller adult. Bedding is available as an extra for both the double and single bed. NB- If you wish to use the 3rd Person Bed, please choose ONE of the 3rd Bed Add-Ons so that I can include the mattress for it. The 3rd person bed is free if you are bringing your own bedding.

Description of Seating: There are three belted seats in the front including the driver. The double passenger seat swivels to add to the seating in the rear, where is further seating for three if needed, one of which is a long bench you can recline on. We are not able to rent you child seats, but there is a child seat rental in Edinburgh. The seats are NOT Isofix compliant.

Description of Electrical Setup: Tattie has multiple USB charging sockets and two regular 240-volt sockets. She has 350W of solar linked to 100Ah of lithium batteries to make you totally independent for multi-day off-grid adventures, including using 240v via an inverter. You can also hook up to the mains when at a campsite.

About the area: Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, captivates with its rich history, stunning landscapes, and a harmonious coexistence of ancient charm and modern energy. Tattie lives very close to the centre of Edinburgh so we are ideally placed for you to arrive by public transport. We are a five min taxi ride or twenty-minute walk from either Waverly or Haymarket station.

Parking: If you are travelling by car to collect Tattie, whilst we are in a residential parking zone, there is plenty of free on-street parking in a quiet residential location just a further short drive from where we are located. We can meet you there directly or we could meet you at home and then show you where to park.

Cooking Equipment: Tattie has a well-equipped kitchen. Pots and pans, chopping boards, knives, cafetiere, plates, bowls, utensils… everything you really need. For cooking, there is a dual gas burner hob, and to keep food fresh and beer cool, there is a 35lt chest fridge.

Water and Sanitation: There is an outdoor shower tent using water heated from the stove. There is an indoor porta potti housed under one of the front seats. There are 25ltr fresh and grey water tanks housed beneath the sink.

Audio Equipment: Tattie has Bluetooth pairing for the audio system in the cab.

Type of Heating: Tattie is kept super warm by a powerful diesel heater that runs directly from Tatties fuel tank, so no need for messy refuelling.

Conversion Story: After many years of gallivanting around Scotland with my partner Maria in a beloved classic VW from the 1970s called Bella, a friend and I bought a nearly completed and very much more dependable van. This is Isla, who is also available to hire through Quirky Campers. Through the process of finalising and enhancing Isla, Maria and I gained the final bit of confidence we needed to channel our love and experience of off-grid Scottish van adventuring with years of practical build experience and create a new campervan from the ground up. The result of many months of hard work, lots of sweat, and some pain on both our parts is Tattie. We hope you enjoy her.

Note on Booking Ferries

Re booking ferries, Tattie is actually registered as an LGV (Light Goods Vehicle) rather than a motorhome. It's a long and boring story as to hard it is to get motorhomes registered with DVLA, but on the plus side, that means there is a higher height limit on Calmac ferries than with campervans.

So when you come to book, choose the LGV option. The website will then ask you for vehicle details, which because the site doesn't always recognise the registration number, you may have to enter manually.

These are:

Registration - MW20UFJ

Make - Citroen Model - Relay

Length - 5.9M

Width - 2m

Height - 2.6M

Weight - 2800kg
